Citywire is delighted to extend its awards into South Africa for the first time this year.

The Citywire South Africa Awards 2021 recognise fund managers and asset management groups with funds available in South Africa.

For these inaugural awards, we will be naming winners across nine categories, with separate awards for fund managers (individuals or teams) and groups. The best fund manager awards are calculated using three-year risk-adjusted performance, while the group awards are calculated over seven years.

Truffle Asset Management CIO Iain Power tops the list of nominations in the best fund manager awards this year, being shortlisted in three categories. In two of those, he is nominated together with the Truffle team of Nicole Agar, Sophié-Marié van Garderen and Saul Miller.

Centaur Asset Management’s Roger Williams, Rory Spangenberg from Northstar Asset Management and Matrix Fund Managers’ Lourens Pretorius also receive two nominations each.
A few local asset management veterans also appear as nominees. John Biccard from Ninety One is shortlisted in the global equity category, while Dave Foord of Foord Asset Management is nominated in the aggressive mixed assets category and Vunani Fund Managers’ Rowan Williams-Short is among the nominees in the bonds category.

The winners will be announced on Thursday 2 December.
